Alcohol/Meth/Water Injection?

Alcohol/Meth/Water Injection?

Postby p_action » Fri Oct 03, 2008 12:14 am

Hey everyone!

Anyone done Alcohol/Meth/Water Injection on there TRD Supercharged 1MZ? Since we can't inter cool, and love to run more boost, just thought it would be a cool alternative.

Also I wouldn't want to spray on the S/C, and don't know exactly where I can plumb it on the S/C to make it in all the cylinders on the hot side.

Thoughts?

check out my cardomain page....I believe I was the second one to do this to their solara (Greg, aka Paladin, did it to his beast). URD sells a kit for close to $900, but greg and I got ours from snow performance. Much more reasonable price! Let me know if you have any other questions after doing some research

I was also concerned about spraying the s/c, but my tuner said it's perfectly fine. He's been doing it on boosted toyotas since the 80's with no problems.

the water will all atomize from the heat in the supercharger before it can get your blower "wet"

and it's a great, and our only option to cool or intake charge!

but as well though, if you want the most effective way to cool down the charge, take a look at snow performance's direct port kits. I believe that you have to tap your intake manifold to install those

hey Akfahad, I never knew that you had meth- how did you set yours up? did you get the snow performance stage 1 with just the boost on/off switch, or did you get the progressive controller that lets you change the amount of meth per psi? I have a kit with an on/off switch, haven't installed it yet- going to wait until I get a set of headers in, and I'm considering upgrading to the progressive controller. not too sure if it's worth the money though, since I really just want it for any boost over 4psi

sorry to TJ but why can't we intercool our s/cers? running the pipes from filter to cooler to supercharger...? sorry I'm kinda noobish when it comes to forced induction.

what we actually need are "aftercoolers", which means that the air that is compressed (or in our case, pushed really quickly) needs to be cooled after it is heated up by the compressing/pushing process

the only other option therefore, is to do what greg did and cut the supercharger in half to install custom runners to an intercooler

Mine (Greg's) starts at 3 lbs. of boost and maxes out at 6 lbs.
He used a TB spacer to inject the Boost Juice.
Got Boost?? :sweet:

^ thanks for the info joe

so does it just start spraying whatever mister nozzle at 3psi? or does it spray more and more until 6psi and then keep the same pressure until max boost?

Hey King, which progressive unit are you referring to...the pressure or MAF activated one? I don't know if our MAF is 0-5V, but that unit sound more suitable to our blowers.

http://www.snowperformance.net/product.php?pk=9

This is the one I have...and the same one javajoe has too. It's not a progressive discharge of the meth as the boost increases. the "brain" can be set to any MAF voltage (0-5) which tells the pump to start injecting. when I first hooked it up, I had set the initial setting too low (~2v) so it was injecting pretty much all the time. I tweaked it a little more so it will come on right as soon as I boost up to max load, but it's a continuous shot of meth, not progressive like you were talking about King.

You'll need to dyno this after the install tho...directions say to decrease A/F ratio down by .5, but for some reason in my case, that wasn't needed...just FYI.

King...or anybody else...check out my cardomain site. you'll see where I mounted the nozzle. Biggest difference between javajoe's and mine...I put mine on the intake, he put his closer to the SC like joe said, which will require a solenoid to prevent the SC from sucking all the fluid out when you don't want to.

This is all great info guys.. thx...

But I have been very concerned with spraying directly into the S/C. Wouldn't most of the benefit come if you injected after the air was compressed?

^^yes, but as king said before, the only real way to do that would be to cut the SC in half and install a cooling system. check out javajoe's site (if he has one). Greg, the former owner, had a picture where you could see the welds on the SC once the cut was complete.

I asked him about it...it is NOT cheap.

WOW ,Is that liquid cooled?????

Is there a noticeble differents in power when you use a water injection like aquamist?
