TRD one-way valve

TRD one-way valve

Postby CaliLara » Thu Jul 09, 2009 1:09 pm

I'm newly SC'd, but I do not have the actual "TRD" one-way valve that is placed in the IAC hose. (Pg. 7, step 32, figure 20 of the install manual) The seller must have forgotten to send it to me. I am currently using one that I bought from AutoZone, but I'm a little worried about the quality. Does anyone happen to have an extra TRD one-way valve, or know where I can get one? I pm'd Reggie a couple days ago, but no reply yet.

Thanks!

A one way valve is a one way valve.....

You can use the same one way valve that your brake booster line uses. You can get it from your toyota dealership.

I've had mine removed with absolutely no difference. In fact, I think my TRD valve is stuck anyways.

Isn't it so your brakes don't get (positive pressure) boost? Brakes only work when you have vaccuum.

Which way is it suppose to flow? From the motor -> out?

Just put on the one way valve (Toyota brake boost valve). It only goes on one way, with the flow from the IAC to the manifold. Otherwise, the car won't idle right and will feel like its constantly going to die. I guess the IAC needs to see manifold vacuum to work properly, but the one way valve prevents boost from going to the IAC.

All I can say is that it does make a difference in driveability, particularly in the transition from manifold vacuum to boost. It just pulls harder when boost starts to build. Now if I take-off normally in 1st (like most grandmas in their Camrys), wait til 3000 rpm (about 20mph), then jump on it to WOT, I break the tires loose. This didn't happen before.

Adam, I need you to put on the torque rod so the front end doesn't dance around.
