TRD Supercharger replacement idlers and pulleys?

TRD Supercharger replacement idlers and pulleys?

Postby Tony the Tiger » Tue Jan 05, 2010 2:34 am

I've recently acquired a TRD Supercharger several months ago, and upon basic inspection, the SC appears to be in good shape. The SC feels fine when turning by hand and doesn't make any noises.

However, once I installed it on the car, within weeks, it developed a loud whirring and humming noise near the passenger side firewall especially it idle speeds, and I know it came from the newly installed supercharger.

So what I did was loop the belt and ran the engine without the supercharger in the belt system but with all tensioner and idlers still in the loop, and I continue to get the noises I speak of... This points to bad bearings on the tensioner pulleys and idlers...

Anyone here know where to get replacement pulleys, or know where to get replacement sealed ballbearing units? Has anyone here ever replaced them before?

Thanks!

I don't have a Dayco guy... It's just a NAPA guy who gets some Dayco stuff, and they suck at getting "universal" application parts even if I gave them a part number. These guys just NEED some sort of application in order for them to search... What a PITA

Will you be able to get me all four idlers/pulleys? You got PMl :)

one of the bearings in a smooth pulley went out on my 98, and i found that the smooth pulley from a 2000-ish grand prix gtp was an exact fit, and it was only like $10 or $15. all i had to reuse was the brass spacers, and i expected that anyway. i think i posted about it over on TN with more detail. i haven't had one of the grooved pulleys fail yet but when it does, i expect the GTP pulleys to work for me as well.
