Developed a ticking noise...

Postby scdsolara619 » Thu Mar 18, 2010 5:43 pm

Well @ 103k miles the engine developed a pronounced ticking noise. Seems to be same as the speed of the valvetrain. I also had a noisy idler pulley and went ahead an replaced all spark plugs (which were due anyways) just to eliminate the possibilty of being a loosened up spark plug which can at times sound like a tick from the engine. Has anyone experienced anything similar on their 1MZ? The tick is louder when engine is cold, but it does quiet down when warm, but never goes away. My understanding is that our valvetrain is automatically self adjusting, but I could be wrong. Any input is appreciated. Thank you.
