boost levels on stock pully?

boost levels on stock pully?

Postby usoff89 » Sun Apr 04, 2010 10:48 am

I put my boost gauge in last weekend. It has the stock pully on it, which should run about 4psi, right? It runs a steady 4psi on the dot, when in full throttle. But I have seen it spike out at 5-6psi a couple of times now. I have only seen it do that on the cooler nights. Is this normal? Oh, and my boost gauge is a manaul VDO gauge.

I was just wondering if anybody has seen higher boost levels on the stock pully?

im not sc'ed but ive done mods on my parents chrysler since that will be my future car so im investing it, and colder outside temp while your engine is warm usually equals to better performance so its very normal for boost to spike on colder nights, super warm days it may drop, this is what ive found... just my .02$

ToyoSolV6 - How much of a gain did you notice from the 4psi pully to the 5.5?

maybe I'm wrong, but I think I read somewhere that the factory pully for the trd S/C was rated at about 4psi? I just was trying to see how big of a performance gain i could look forward to on the 5.5psi pully.

it is a good amount of difference but i wouldnt recomend pumping up the the boost if you dont have the proper mods.
I see in your sig that you dont have Jims fuel mod or fuel pump and dont have the 3in exhaust.

this stuff is sort of manditory to have if your going to pump up the juice. your going to be forcing the charger and the motor without the proper flow of fuel and air.

stick with 4psi until you get the other stuff, trust me dude you dont want to blow the motor.

I know about all of the mods and things to do for more boost. The pully is the last thing I'm doing. And NO, I don't plan on blowing my motor! :o

lol good.

Trust me thats the last thing you want. Just gather up everything you need, and when your ready throw it on with the 5.5psi pulley. Get tuned and your set.

I have same gauge with the 5.5 lb pulley. Cool temps will definitely give you more boost. I regularly get 5.0 on the money and will get 5.5 at times. I have hit a MAX spike of 6.0 when it was very cool outside. I'm a bit surprised that you could spike to almost 6.0 with the stock pulley.
