Gabe's fuel and FMU setup

Gabe's fuel and FMU setup

Got back from the dyno yesterday after finally getting everything I needed to put the Fuel Management Unit on.

A little history: put the Gen 3 Camry return line fuel system on, but because I had the Supra MAF, my correction values were +50% from around 3800RPM on upward. So I needed something that would increase fuel pressure with boost so I could input smaller correction values on the Neo so I could get some timing back (anything over +30% or so on the SAFC/Neo will pull timing). Hence the reason for the FMU. I bought the full calibration kit from Vortech as Gabe and I were somewhat sure what ratio disk we needed but not 100%. The FMU can use anything from 3:1 on up to 12:1 ratio disks, but the 4:1 disk works perfectly, keeping the fuel pressure around 62psi and a little higher at WOT. The only problem that we realized with the FMU after the tune is that it takes some time for the fuel pressure to build in the lines once at WOT. So my corrections were still around +25% or so towards the lower band on the RPM spectrum and near 0% on the top end to keep a 12:0 A/F. My tuner did say that with a better tuning device where we could control timing and fuel delivery better, 300HP would be almost a sure bet. But with 80* weather and the Neo, she pulled 260HP. I'll post the graph once he emails it to me. She FEELS like a totally different car! Need to track her now and see how she does....

BTW....if you plan on getting Gabe's *new* supercharger, you will have to do the return line fuel system, FMU, and bigger pump (255).

Sorry for the essay

and for more clarity on why I needed another tune...after installing the 255HP Walbro pump and 4:1 FMU...my tuner couldn't finish the run when we first started as my A/F ratio was 10 and lower.

congrats and great news! 30whp increase from a $100 FPR :) I knew that extra fuel would do the trick.

Bring that puppy to the 1/4 mile asap.

Your the first solara owner on the boards to do the trd4life return style fuel setup with the custom vortech FMU raising fuel pressure from the stock 42psi to 62-67psi at WOT using the 7psi s/c pulley. This fuel rail/regulator will really come in handy for us in the future when everyone starts cracking the 300whp mark with the mp90 blower kit.

good stuff man!

I had my rising FPR installed years ago on my fuel setup along with my 255lph, and it has served me well until my injectors maxed :p
