No more Xylene!

No more Xylene!

Postby Sp33d » Wed Dec 22, 2010 1:58 pm

Hey guys,

I have been running a 1 Gallon Xylene to 15 Gallon 91 Octane Gas with 4 oz. Marvel Mystery Oil to give me a roughly 92.6 Octane for the last couple of months. Problem is, at my local store they are discontinuing Xylene..is there another cost effective means with xylene being pulled off the shelf? And secondly, how dangerous would it be to run straight 91 octane now? although my tune is set for 92.6 octane. Thanks!

what are your mods & u can use toluene, & 1 gal of toluene with 12 gals of of 91 will produce 92.76 octane & u 2oz of marvel instead of 4 with it......

i second that. use toluene its not quite as potent as the xylene, but still works great!

Xylene ?? I have never heard of this and interestingly enough...
.. I have Xylene in 5 Gallon Pales here in my factory ( 12 pales of it right now ) !!

We use it to thin out the Commercial Grade Paint we coat our equipment with.
I'll have to read up on this to understand if I can use the product I have in stock ??

The price difference in low and high octane in Canada is better than 10 cents per liter, being almost 40 cents per gallon !
Love to bump up my octane and not give the money away to the Gas Stations that stick it to us with over priced fuel !!
Can't Afford a Ferrari but the MR2 is the Next Best Thing !!

David. Hey its gabe. The xylene is very potent, 117 octane if i remember correctly. . Its worth a ton of money here in the states i pay $16 a gallon for it now. You are sitting on a gold mine if you have pallets of xylene :) Its huge in the drag racing community. Dont use more than a 70% gas to 30% xylene mixture. I used to add 4 gallons of xylene to 12 gallons of 93 octane, and run 8psi on a stock compression 1mz with the trd blower and no timing controller and the car made a ton of power and tq with no knock.
