Stupid TRD Supercharger question...

Stupid TRD Supercharger question...

Postby Just1n_mc » Tue Mar 29, 2011 4:35 am

I've tried searching on this and other forums but I can't find a definitive answer as to whether the Kazuma/TRD Supercharger is a M45 or a M62?? Even on this forum there are topics saying that they are a M45 and other stating they are a M62.

I've got the installation guide that came with the Supercharger kit but I can't find in it which charger it is.

The reason I ask is that i'm looking to send my charger off to get rebuilt as it has a bearing noise at idle which I think is in the snout but since i'm not sure of mileage of the charger I thought for the money I may as well get it rebuilt. The guys that specialise in Superchargers down here (Australia) want to know what charger it is before they will try and rebuild it. There are practically none of these down here so I thought i'd try and get them the necessary information before they look at it.

Any help you guys can give me would be greatly appreciated.

I dont know where on this forum you have seen anyone say that it is a m45, our TRD supercharger is indeed a m62.

Here's one thread I found on here saying it's an M45: viewtopic.php?f=23&t=30721&p=342015&hilit=m45#p342015

I'd also read elsewhere on other forums saying the same thing so I thought i'd ask the question before sending my charger off for a rebuild.

There wasn't 2 variations of TRD/Kazuma supercharger used for the 1MZ??

maybe less info was available back then? the trd is an m62, theres never been another variation aside from now that trd4life has an m90 kit. an m45 is wayy too small. the m62 is almost too small as is.
are avalons supposed to be this fast?

Its just an opinion, but instead of spending a bunch of cash on that old trd supercharger, you should just buy one of TRD4Lifes mp90 supercharger kit! That would be a good way to make some serious hp.

The problem is I want to do something now and I can't find any updates on MP90 kit since October last year so i'm not holding my breath that they are going to be ready any time soon.

It's going to cost me $400 to get the TRD unit rebuilt here in Australia and although it probably doesn't really need anything other than a snout bearing I thought for the price i'd just get the whole thing freshened up whilst I had it off changing cams.

I'm making some improvements to Gabe's design, and should have two production-ready prototypes sometime next week. Not going to let the cat out of the bag, but it will be worth the wait. Once I get the two prototypes done, they'll go off to Gabe to decide which one he wants to go forward with, and then production is just a matter of placing the order.

I've got a friend visiting the US from Oz in May too, and I can see if I can sucker her into carrying one back with her if you are interested. Your car is an MR2, right?
