AFR during cold start?

Hey guys,

Just wondering if anybody knows what their AFR is during a cold start up. Mine typically is running at around 12 then once it starts to warm up it goes to 14.7. From what i understand it has to do with the open and close loop cycles during cold starts to protect the engine ( please correct me on this).

The reason i'm asking is that I have gone through one catalytic converter already and i believe my new one just went bad again. The first catalytic converter was from the jpp header setup that had low mileage. The new one that has begun to rattle has less than 3-5k miles on it. I know my car needs a tune but i just haven't had the time and money to get it done yet, plus i wanted to get the meth kit on it first. I didn't think driving the car under easy load (attempting to keep the car in closed loop) would be an issue since my afr is normally around 14.7. Apparently, I was completely wrong and now i'm just trying to make sure that it is normal for our cars to have an afr of ~12 during a cold start at idle.

Sorry for the lousy written question, but i'm just confused and trying to learn what is going on. Any input is appreciated.

Thank you!!

Normal. Cold start enrichment. It starts in open loop then switches to closed loop once its warmer. My afr is about the same

My Zeitronix wideband reads 14.7 to 15.2 at cold start.

mine starts off at about 11.5 or so iirc, and then it quickly goes to 14.xx (or, on mine,15.0) within about a minute or 2
