Do yall think it would be ok to supercharge my solara which has 93,000 on it. I havent had any problems out of it yet other than 02 sensor and I ve allready been putting mobil synthetic and 93 octane in it since i got it. I dont plan on going wild with it, I just want a lil more pep out of it.
Thanks,
Lurch

the good thing about low boost superchargers is they really dont cause any more engine wear than just driving a car hard that doesnt have a supercharger. i would do it if the engine is still runing strong and you know it is going to last you a long long time.

I supercharged my car at 100k. Have you monitored your oil consumption? I was using about 1 quart every 3,000 using 5 or 10W 30 when I was NA (I don't know how the previous owner was with oil changes). Oil consumption after forced induction has increased so I switched to straight 30 weight except for the coldest months of the year. Now I still use about 1 quart every 3,000 which I'm guessing is good for another 50,000 reliable miles. In my case, the boost does cause some oil to blow by the rings and burn up in the exhaust but I think the consumption is at an acceptable level. In the end, the increase in performance on a MT and the good price I got for the car is worth the reliability risk.

On the topic of longe6vity... Has anyone had to replace a belt tensioner? Mine rattles sometimes at low below idle rpms ( or sounds like it does, its a clicking sound. ) Anyone?

my car has 124K miles, which i know is alot, but it runs perfectly with no problems whatsoever.

Does the same thing hold true for this many miles? Or would you say this is too far?

you might consider it. since everything is sealed, you can't really grease it.
