QUESTION ABOUT SOME GRILLES

Postby Biggi_e » Wed Aug 06, 2008 11:51 am

i just shipped my lund grille out about an hour ago that i sold to a member here.

lund grill to me is better quality plus how the outline of the grill is made. i love the looks of it but money is needed...

i dont have a precision grille but from pics ive seen in the past, it doesnt even have an outline that goes around? seems to look "cheap" to me.

Has anyone modified the original grill - cut away part, used the outer as a frame, then filled with a design cut from a different grill?

not sure if that is even do-able. Way too complicated. I actually went to home depot to see if they have a mesh fencing that i could use to make a mesh grille DIY style, however, it was gonna be too complicated regardless, i settled for lundz, got it from biggi_e. Looks great.

Might be complicated, but a Dremmel tool might fit your mod needs.

^^ I started to hack away at mine and come up with a "clever" design and abandoned it due to time... ended up finding some others on eGay and just painting them for now. Would love to get them powder coated some day so they won't chip so bad.

What I had in mind was simply a way to use an existing (and in my opinion attractive) grill structure from a different car on my G2. Its outline is way too big and different to be adapted directly, and too complicated to make from scratch.

I redid the mesh about six months ago, and it looks better now. The pictures are from my first go round. The gap on the right is less noticeable now. I also used mesh that came in black (from JC Whitney, I believe)... it was way more expensive than spray painting the silver stuff from Home Depot, but it was well worth it.
