Body Kit Proposal

Body Kit Proposal

Postby junest » Wed Nov 10, 2004 10:49 pm

I have great news…we have a company who is willing to make a body kit for our cars. Pricing has been discussed, but there is no final word as of yet; amounts will depend on material and design. A full fiberglass kit can run from $1200 to $1500; if we decide to go with eurothane, it will be slightly higher. We’ll continue to play around with this idea as we receive feedback from all of you. Michael and I have been looking around for a kit that would work best with our Solaras, but haven’t had much luck. We need your help and opinions, so if there is a kit that you’d like to see on our cars please post some pics. It can be any skirt, front, and rear bumper as long as you feel that it works with the car visually. Another option will be to take the current TRD lip kit and make modifications, i.e., make a one piece front lip, lower the side skirts a few inches, and streamline the rear lip. Your thoughts….

Here is one that I've been looking at from BodyKits.com Sorry, the pics won't post.

I think the front and rear pieces of the current OEM kit are fine, it's the side pieces that are really lacking. If they made new side pieces just like the last Gen's TRD ones, then the GEN2 SE Sport would be perfect. To me, you can hardly tell the difference between the side skirts on the SE Sport and the sides of the SLE's.

That's just prelim. no's, nothing is final yet. Plus, this amount would be for a full body kit, not just a lip kit. I think that price is about avg.

Yes, I agree with you on that one. I'd like to see the skirts sit lower than the TRD.

Since I have the Sport model with the front and side kit, I'd only be interested in a rear kit that has openings for a dual exhaust system.

im only going to voice my opinion about the rear on the sport model, I myself would like to see it less grid like more like a curvy molded plastic

or maybe 2 lil corner pieces ( that would keep cost down and make room for dual exaust) sorta like the 1 thats avail for the corolla

Maxima body kit from bodykits.com

Postby michaels artic frost » Thu Nov 11, 2004 11:34 am

Here you go! We really need some ideas and pics if anyone has been looking into this. More pics the better. This way we can critique this and that til we narrow it down to one nice kit. :D

That maxima kit is too .... dull looking.... not sharp like how the solara is designed.... kinda kills it.... but I would pay $1500 for a full body-kit. Maybe something like the Celica GTS kit .... modify it a little, and add the front SE Sport skirts to it. I still really like the front skits we have.... But the bumper should be meaner. Wish I could draw......

I hear from a lot of local import and body shops that Erebuni doesn't fit well AT ALL.

No, we are not taking the same kit! We are merely trying to come up with a design.

i would definitely pay $1500 for a full body kit, i have an SLE and the body kit would definitely add a much needed style.

It would have to be something that fits the design of the car, not something that looks like it was pasted on. Thats what makes the sport models' kit look so tight. Its extensions of the original lines of the body design. Not all of us are 2 fast 2 furious wannabes. i need to be able to drive in and out of parking lots and hit speed bumps and drive through snow without causing hundreds of dollars worth of kit damage to my car.
Just keep in mind that sometimes less is more.

I kinda like this one (just the front)...
http://www.bodykits.com/fullview.php?id_no=24158&view=OK&unit_price=1124.998875&option_price=0
I wonder if the little opening in the front of the kit, right where the little snorkel piece for the intake is, would help?
