How did your ride change when you went to 18's?

I have a 2005 with the stock 16's. I'm thinking of going to 18's or 19's. How bad does the ride get? We all know how smoothly the car rides now.

Thanks!

I have 18" TRD wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport tires and there is a
noticeable difference in ride quality.

1.) more tire noise.

2.) stiffer ride

-the best thing is to demo a new Solara that the Dealer has added 18"s
there should be lots of 2005's with upgraded wheel & tire packages
now that the 2006 Solara is available.

I have a sports SE and I recently switched over to volks 18's on Nitto extremes. I do have to say there is a noticable difference to the ride. The biggest differences would have to be road noise and the sensitive ride. After awhile you get used to it.

At Hollywood Toyota in Hollywood, Florida they had a 2005 Solara

Sle running 19" and I have to admit it looked pretty good filling in

the wheel well. The point is some of the dealers in South Florida

are putting larger and larger wheels on their Toyotas. Of course

the boys love their shiny wheels here in South Florida thats why the

Dealers are putting them on. And of course we have very nice roads

here for the most part, however you still have to watch for uneven

pavement from road construction, however their are no potholes here

thank god.

Have you thought of getting a set of stock 17"s off of someone who has

upgraded their wheels on their Solara. Should be no more than $500-

$600 for wheels and tires. The 17"s provide a nice ride on the SLE.

If you are concerned about ride quality that might be your best bet with

no warranty problems with your suspension.

Again if you are concerned about ride quality, Demo first is your only

option.

I agree if you are worried about feeling and noise stick with stock size wheels... If you dont mind the extra noise and ruffness for some nice big wheels upgrade I always say.. Its worth the look to upgrade.. I will always throw biggest wheels possible on any and every ride i get.. but thats just me... I love big body rides....

LOL... im not too worried about it since DEALERS are putting 26s on their vehicles now (without any brake upgrades...)
