I'm looking at buying a 2004 Solara with the 2.4L engine. Any thought vs V6? Also, should I get a carfax or some other report? Thanks..

only thing good about the 4 is the highway gas mileage
city mileage sucks in heavy traffic

i always wish i got the v6 except for when i take long road trip =)

My V6 has just the power I need and it is impressive. I took my cousin from Atlanta for a ride when we were in Nashville last week and he was very impressed with the power. He said that this car has some kick in it. It actually pushes you back in the seat when you step on the gas. I wonder if it's the new K&N air filter I put in a week ago that I was noticing. I feel that a car as heavy as this needs a V6. My cousin drives a 2003 ES300 Lexus. Jimmm

I agree with the V6. I've had my share of 4 bangers and loved them all, but I can't imagine a heavy Solara with one and don't want to.

Coming from a Jeep I am happy with the gas mileage. I average about 24mpg all around, 17 city and 28mpg cruising. Not sure what the 4 cylinders get, but I gladly accept the loss for the added power.
