KYB Struts for 07 Solara....confused!

Postby ADAMnQuickSOLARA » Mon Feb 08, 2010 2:46 pm

I searched and am confused. In the sticky it gives part #'s for KYB rears only and yet when i called KYB they said they only make fronts for my 2007...all else says 04-06.

So, can someone please help with the part #'s for KYB GR-2 for an 07?
Or confirm that 06 and 07 use the same part #'s?

EDIT for UPDATE:

PROBLEM!
FYI... the kyb gr2 struts are NOT a direct bolt on to the 07+. I confirmed that last night after what should've been a 2 hour or less job turned into 5 hrs. ugh!

You will need to modify ALL FOUR of your top hats to get these struts to work...i tried and tried to get a round shaft through a square(-ish) hole until I finally realized it wasn't going to work. The openings of all four top hats needs to be machine out to be completely round to accept the round rod...i put together a basic diagram to explain....may want to put this somewhere that all gen 2.5'ers will see it.

I did finally get it done though (at 3am...yes im at work at 8...haha):

Thanks!

I'm guessing none of you were aware that the kyb gr2 struts are NOT a direct bolt on to the 07+? I confirmed that last night after what should've been a 2 hour or less job turned into 5 hrs. ugh!

i think its actually pretty cool that very few people modify this car....i've owned MANY new cars over the years, and most were newly released (first model year like my EP3 civic, Acura RDX, Forester XT, etc) but this car has, by far, the least aftermarket support and it seems very few people on the forums have done much in the way of serious modding....makes it more challenging...but at least i'll be unique....i just hope i dont run into something i cant fabricate on my own... or break something serious along the way...haha
