Custom injen CAI

Modified my injen short ram intake by putting a intake hose on the end, relocating the battery off to the side at a angle. Then routed the intake hose over the chassis, down the inside of the wheel well and towards the front bumber avoiding as much alteration as possible so the air induced will flow threw without unwanted turbulance. After that i connected another short ram intake and mounted it behind the front bumper in the air damn then attaching a injen air filter on the end.

PROS:
-Alot of noticable horsepower gain!
-DEMINISHED 95% OF THE THROTTLE LAG!
-Noticable increase in low end and high end torque
-Still wistles on gear changes and growls like the short ram
-Fits snug with no vibration
-Gets alot colder air and more of it
-Passed VA state inspection
-Tons of complements on the look

CONS:
-Check engine light came on (p0171= running to lean, p0174= air/fuel sensor lean bank 2)

Over all i think it was way worth it amazing difference!

P.S. havent drove in the rain yet... wish me luck!

looks good, but something about it being mounted in the front like that makes it look weird.

Looks good. The only thing I would worry about is rain getting in the filter. I would make a shield if I were you. Pretty easy to make. I did when I make a custom vent in my hood. lemme know if you want a write up or pics.

ditto on the CE light. It's there for a reason. Otherwise, how will you know if a different engine issue comes up?? You won't.

it could be that flex hose is disrupting the air flow, causing the cel, i had a simular problem, the ruffles in the plastic screwing with air flow, messing with the maf.................... :drinking:

Just the elongation of the intake I believe would be enough throw off the ecu. When I added piping to my injen I had to adjust my maf-sc to keep from throwing cels.

Don't drive it in the rain. When your filter gets wet it is going to send the filter oil through your intake piping and coat your MAF sensor in oil. That's going to cause a CEL, rough idle and stalling. Behind the foglight is a much better location.

Also, the flex tube is killing your performance. Trust me, I tested numerous CAI's before settling on my final design. The difference between mandrel bent aluminum piping and flex tube is TREMENDOUS (a half second difference from 30-80mph).
