Aftermarket Upper Strut Mounts / Solid Strut Mounts?

Aftermarket Upper Strut Mounts / Solid Strut Mounts?

Postby SoSleek » Thu Sep 09, 2010 10:15 am

I didn't expect this, but it's already becoming an issue. I recently upgraded to the TRD lowering springs and 20" wheels. After only a couple of months I am hearing the noises of worn upper strut mounts, mainly up front. I was wondering if anyone currently makes Solid Upper Strut Mounts. Also, how are the KYB upper strut mounts? Are they the only aftermarket option?

Also, has anyone else had this issue? My Solara only had 40k miles previous to installing the springs and wheels, and only 2,500 miles have been put on since.

Thanks!

i think i am the only guy here who bought the kyb strut mounts,
They seem much better built and solid compared to the OEM ones.
no complaints here although I believe that it messes with the camber

I only say that because, lostsoul and I lowered our cars approx the
same time. except I changed out the Strut mounts too. At the meet
side by side, it seemed mine was lower a little, maybe it was my eyes
but at the same time, his alignment zero'd out to factory spec without a problem

I needed a camber kit.

hope this helps

and I still have my oem set in the garage if you want to buy for super cheap?
they have about 60k miles on hem. pm me if your interested

I would imagine the KYB mounts would work with stock SE Sport struts. Do you know for sure whether they would or not?

I dont see why they wouldnt?

Ii bought new kyb shocks and strut mounts when i did the
trd springs. My factory se sport shocks say KYB on them
it wouldnt surprise me if the oe strut mounts were KYB too?
