i own silverstars on my gen one solara, click my www to see the pictures. the color is a lot whiter, and the light is brighter. However it doesn't come close to true hids.

Your SilverStars look so nice. To be honest with you, I think the bright white is much nicer looking than the blue from the HIDs. Thanks for the pictures.

The one good thing about the blue HIDs is they really stand out on the highway and it is then easily known you have them. Sort of a bragging right I guess.

The thing about HID lights is that they do not make you go any faster....vroooom. HIDs on the new M5 v-10 would be killer and worth bragging about...on a solara...hmmm not so much maybe. Still "cool" but save the money and buy a supercharger... although I laugh at myself because I have a gen one 4 banger. wheee! Still lovin' my solara though! wicked cool baby!

Sorry, a bit off topic

Still on Sylvania - they have Xenarc HID Aux Driving Light

I wonder... ;)

Expensive $299 a piece, but just imagine driving the car with 3 sets of lights (stock low beams, stock fog lights & aux HIDs) :D

Probably it would be illegal, huh?

PS: If the stock lights need to be replaced, I'd get the Silverstar.

Here's a suggestion... how about finding out what size/base the stock one is by calling a Toyota Parts Dept. After you've found that, you can figure out what options are available to you all.

BTW, Xenarc HID Driving Light (X1010) are crap; beam pattern and color-wise.

Thx!

You just saved me 600$. I'll go with 2/3 pairs of Silverstars then.

I spoke with Sylvania via email and telephone. They do not make a Silverstar bulb for the 04 Solara low beams, only for the high beams. I just bought a pair of Silverstar high beams at Advanced Auto Specialists (Wisconsin) for $17.77 each. There is also a mail-in rebate for $6.00 if you buy two Siverstar bulbs.

It's raining right now, so I don't dare take the Solara out. But once I drive at night, I'll give you guys a review of my Silverstar high beams.

DO you think the Solara might melt in the rain or something? ;-) It does have all-weather tires....
