Sling,

I'd decide which service you want to subscribe to before getting a receiver. But if you elect to go with XM, I've heard many good things about the Roady.

As fotodad knows... I am a sirius fan myself. In most instances Sirius is superior to XM with content, and selection. Although some stations, like the 90's station on Sirius suck. I do feel that sirius has a very strong Rock, Dance, Hip Hop, and dance line up.

Check out some opinions at www.siriusbackstage.com or xmfan.com (although xmfan.com has been down the last couple of days).

If you go with XM... the commander is a much better option then the roady. Slimmer profile... and thinner. BUT, you must hide away the tuner box in the trunk, or under your seat with the commander. The tuner is built into the roady. Either option you need to install the antenna on your rear deck, or on the trunk.

Sample the music streams on sirius.com or xmradio.com before you do anything.

If you get sirius... go for a new headunit or the Streamer. See my install pic below. If you go with XM, go with the commander.

crutchfield.com is a great place to buy either.

I have it and I love it! Plus, I am also getting a free home adapter kit since it was purchased before the end of the year!

Do you have the commander or the roady?

Any install pics you can share with the group?

Uh, I can only recommend the Roady because that's all I've experienced. There was nothing to the install. It's basic plug and play.

I was just at Best Buy. The XM Delphi unit, RF modulator, antenna, and bracket with labor will cost about $300.00.

Dealer Install

Postby glenb » Wed Feb 11, 2004 4:42 pm

Has anyone priced the XM install by the Toyota dealer?

The installation instructions look like a lot of work. It would have been so much better had it been done at the factory.

Why would you get that instead of the deal I posted in the first post here at only $119.99 for everything?
