TRD Air Filter 04 Solara

TRD Air Filter 04 Solara

I installed a TRD air filter ,I noticed I can see a little of the filter after tightening down the bolts I've tried taken it off and putting it back on a few times and it still shows The stock one is completely covered. Can you tell me if this is how it's supposed to be or should I keep trying to get it completely enclosed?
The red area in the picture is what I am talking about

Thanks in advance

i'm not sure about TRD air filter, but i do know some other similar product like K&N Filter, they have particular direction to install it...
look at the filter more carefully, it should indictates which side face up or front.
u want ur filter to be FULLY COVERED, u dont' want gap around and allow unclean air goes into ur engine... it wont' be fun~

best luck

Well I can't get rid of it . I do belive it seals on the rubber of the filter so it's most likely a non issue . But I will go back to the factory one until I can figure this out .

I had the same problem with the trd replacement filter for my 01. I dont think you'll be sucking dirty air in since the gap is above the filter.

Don't worry, my K&N filter just does the same, only one that seems to fit perfectly is the OEM.
