Is there maybe some way to sand it first or prime it so that the paint will stick better? I guess I could always re-paint it if need be. There has gotta be someone in this forum who can reccomend something. When I managed a body shop, we painted a couple, but it was in a paint booth and never saw the cars again to know if it held up.

There was a guy from here that purchased one from me and he had painted it gold to match his car. Let me see if I can get in touch with him. He did mention about sanding the grille and then painting it. If you want me to look into this further for you, let me know.

Hey, just a quick question, were you able to find a better way to attach that front emblem? I'd be more interested if you did (since I don't wanna lose my black pearl emblem!)

Absolutely, that's why it took me this long...lol. Otherwise the grille would have been done long ago. Detailed instructions will be included. I too, do not want anyone losing their emblems. :D

Michael,
Any chance of getting some tightly cropped closeup photos of the new upper grille insert? I'd love to see them and think that those photos would surely help you with sales. Also, how about a brief description of how you are keeping the emblem firmly attached?

slingshot,

I will take some more close up pictures this weekend. A brief description will be posted as well. So, anyone that have questions and would like them to be answered, please post and I will compile a list as I did for the Custom Lower Grille and will have a Q&A format for the Custom Upper Grille.

I kinda like the look of the stock upper grille and the aftermarket mesh lower grille. Looks cool that way, IMHO.

And do you have installation instructions for the lower grille? I saw you posted some for the upper grille.

Cool, this may be my first mod!!

Black or Chrome finished

Postby michaels artic frost » Fri Jul 30, 2004 10:36 am

Michael T's Custom Upper Grille for the 2004 Toyota Solara is now available in BLACK or polished aluminum chrome finish.

I did not paint the black, the black finished came straight from the supplier in the black finish. So when ordering, please specify a BLACK or Chrome finish.

Thanks,
Michael
