need a instrument cluster, ASAP
will be heading out to the junkyard this weekend, but if anyone knows where i can get one used and cheap please do tell. THanks

here's my story
basically tried installing the glow gauges using various tutorials from this forum and other places as well. Tried the fuse box, tried using vampire taps and connecting to the green striped wire, nothing works. on top of that my boyfriend who insisted helping me misintrepreted one of the instructions on removing the bulb so you can route the wires instead of drilling holes, he actually put the wire there and burned out the instrument cluster. So basically no driving at night unless a flashlight pointed at the cluster and the dash where the radio, defroster, ashtray, a/c etc does not light up. *sigh* people like us need spoonfed tutorials

hanatsuki - mishap at DIY

Postby michaels artic frost » Wed Sep 21, 2005 5:21 am

hanatsuki,

Sorry to hear of your mishap attempt. Atleast Mark (krawzyazn) has one readily available for ya. I can vouch for him and so can the rest of the members on the forum. Very good guy, kinda krawzy at times but still a good guy...lolz...j/k Mark  .

Are you sure it's not just a blown fuse?

Yeah couldn't it be a blown fuse.
How could you BF misread the instruction.
I let all my bulbs in in gauge cluster.
Just cut the top part of the black cluster cover between the clear cover and the white part, and routed the wires through there.
Good luck.
If you have the inverter wit just 2 wires for the power and ground wire. Also have an inverter wit dimmer.
Cause there is 2 diff inverters that can be bought for the white face gauges.
PM if you need help rewire the inverter wit the dimmer, and 2 wire that are red and black for power and ground.
I have found a way to rewire the inverter so tha tit stays blue and so you don't have to change it to blue to green.
Wanted to have just blue and not an extra dimmer or switch.

There are various fuses for each part of the car. They are put in "Junction blocks". The junction block containing the fuses is located on the left of the steering wheel where that little "coin holder" compartment is... remote that little pocket and it's in there.

Fuse 3 = Gauges
Fuse 20 = Power

Just check all of them though... replace with the appropriate fuse size.

PM me your e-mail address and I'll send over a fuse diagram

Just in case, include the model year. They should all be about the same though
1GR-FE ftw!

Neither of these will work for her, she has a 5 spd, not an automatic.
