Big Brake Kits Solara/Gen4

While my car has been down with a blown up charger I have been busy designing a Big Brake Upgrade. Its a caliper relocation kit that uses Supra rotors, they are 48mm bigger in diameter and 2mm thicker so its a bit of a squeeze getting the pads on but mine fit no problem. I am going to take some picks of the install and throw up a quicky page on how to install.

I have finalized the prices and the kits are ready to ship.

1) $150 CNC Machined Billet 2024 Aluminum Brackets with grade 10.9 hardware.

2) $400 As above with plain/slotted/dimpled zinc platted rotors.

3) $550 As above with matching rear plain/slotted/dimpled rotors.

The front rotors are made by Ikuta (high quility Japanese) and the rears are Brembos. If you want option 2 or 3 its about 5 days lead time on the rotors so if you order now you should recieve the kits as soon as they are ready. The brackets are cut and ready.

Before; with the old front rotor, look at all that gap.

After; with the new big rotor, now thats more like it.

The stock sized front rotor is pictured on the left with the new bigger rotor beside it, the new rotor is 48mm bigger!

would the kit somehow fit under the stock rims?

Eric, do I understand correctly that for $550, you get all parts to do 4 wheels? Do you need or would you recommend a certain pad? Is there anything else that needs to be changed to do this? Thanks, -JoeB

Its $550 for all 4, but only big in the front. The rears are stock sized. I'm using KVR's all the way around and I'm happy with them but it seems like people have really been liking the Potorfields too, although I don't know if they make rears. My only advice is to run the same compound front and rear.

nope. since toyota uses a seperate emergency brake system (drum/shoe; housed inside the rear rotors), they physically won't fit. you'd have to modify your car such that the e-brake is disabled.

Porterfield does have front and rear pads

Eric, any intentions to make a kit for the rear also

Hmmmmm, I'm really just not sure.... Spend $2,000-3,000 on a big brake kit or $550 for big brake kit and better brakes for the rear.... :crazyeyes:

Keep me posted I'm very interested in the full setup! Workmanship looks great too! Of course I didn't expect any less... :wink:

I don't know too much about the different metals so this might sound like a dumb question, will they stay nice and shiny like that or will they look all dark and dirty looking after a short period? Maybe all rotors get like that after a while... -JoeB

It will be awhile for the rears, there is no off the shelf rotor I can use (that I have found yet).

Those are the brackets that relocate your calipers outboard to accept the larger rotor pictured above.
