Got my CPE today it looks good except I am not sure about 1 thing. The port where the small vacume line goes is plugged I am not sure if it should be.

OK EDIT

I called CPE and they said it was a mistake and it needs to be drilled out.

Josh at CPE just called me and said that they did make a mistake on 5 of the 6 intakes that we shipped. The small bung where the vacuum line goes does need to be drilled out. They told me that they would be willing to do this for anyone who wishes to return the pipe portion of the kit, but that it's a very simple fix.

I will be calling everyone who participated to make sure that everyone knows, since I'm not sure if everyone will read this post.

Are we drilling out metal or just the powder coat?

The hole needs to go all the way through. The size of the hole doesn't particularly matter, though, as the small line is only used to monitor pressure.

Is this something we can do ourselves with a hand drill? Is that all Josh will do if we send it back - simply drill it? Can you find out what size bit we should use? Do we have to drill deep or is there just a little section we need to punch through? (I dont have my intake to see it, should be getting it tomorrow!)

You can use a #50 bit but be careful mine broke off and did not want to come out.

Yes, you can do it. The material is aluminum, so it wont be as difficult to drill as something like stainless steel.

Yes, CPE would simply drill it out by hand if you sent it in to them. They said they use a 1/16" drill bit. They also said that using a centerpunch or self-tapping drill bit would be helpful for getting started.

Used a center punch and the smallest bit I had. Pretty easy going, a minor inconvenience. Rinsed out the filings I made so they dont get sucked into the engine.

Wow, I just went up the interstate on-ramp and before I even merged into the main travel lanes I was doing 95 mph. Whoops!

The sound it makes above 4k rpm is just plain frightening. The knees still feel a little weak...

I did not solder I just used the vampire clips because it was 14 degrees out. I will solder later but for now it works just fine. I love this thing the growl is demonic after 4k but it also has a weird buzz Oh well I love it so much more power than my CAI

BTW if you use the clips make sure they are on perfect and check continuity with a meter and you should be fine. After I clipped them on I opened them up again to check to make sure the wire was pushed down all the way
