Not sure it is just an odd sound coming from infront of the stearing wheel I know some SRI make this sound and it the reason I always used the stock resonator in my custom CAI. I am not sure but will get useto it. BTW the power is amazing.

You should have taken my warning from my earlier post but oh well.

I did the same thing so I ended up just drilling a bigger hole through and shoving in the entire hose (make it a VERY tight fit). I do not think you will be able to drill through the old bit it is afterall hardned steel.

I had my old intake like that for about a year with no problems. This weekend I will install a new fitting like I did on my custom CAI. Here are some pics. BTW I have driven all night with it just shoved straight through.

I'm sorry to hear you guys are having trouble. CPE did say that if anyone got their drill bit stuck, they could send it to them and they would take care of it. Of course, you don't need to get one stuck to send it in, either. ;)

If anyone needs any assistance or has any questions, just call CP-E and talk to Josh or Anthony. The number is 301-576-6142.

ok ive snapped six bits.. i give up ... i guess ill just send it back before i screw anything else up. Man just sux i have to wait longer... ive been waiting on this for a while now.

If we send it back, are we responsible for shipping? And how much longer will we have to wait before we get it back?

and did anybody get a weird blue residue from the filter?

Allums does guall up good have you been using cutting fluid? I know I should have :(
I hope cpe takes care of it easy and you don't have to do what I did because I am a bit of an impatient BA5TRD. :( But in the end it does not really matter because it nworks great right now and when I add the fitting it will be perfect.

While you wait for CPE to fix your pipe you can collect all the things you will need to install it from home :)

Oh and the blue residue is probably just blue filter oil.

Well considering all the problems everyone is running into I'm going to officially send it to CPE. I was originally going to put "return to sender" when FedEx came but I didn't want to have to put RPM as the middle man again. Sucks we have to go through shipping and waiting but I paid almost $500 for it and I want it done right.

Are there going to be any rust issues with drilling it after the fact?

Tap it with a center punch to get started and go easy with the pressure you exert on the drill. Go straight through a little at a time and dont wiggle. I used a medium speed with the drill and backed out to clear the hole and let the bit cool a few times.

Agreed this is a pain in the ass but the alternative, if you have the patience, is to send it away.

MAN! Sorry YOU guys are having so much TROUBLE! (Josh is a straight-up guy, and CP-e backs their stuff well.)

I wish you all were close, I'd take care of all those "pesky" little holes...

...seriously, probably 30 min. for ALL of em'...

Another idea... (I haven't seen YOUR gen 1 setup... but...) I would look into using a "milling" point on my Dremel tool. (If the shank was long enough... ) Just a thought.

PS: With aluminum, I'd run a drill at HIGH speed with the part "CLAMPED" in a "soft-jaw" vice set-up and use LOW PRESSURE to let the bit work it's way through. PROPER CHUCKING of the shank is CRITICAL!!! If the drill shank can SPIN for even a MOMENT in the chuck, you will risk damage or breakage of the bit... also if you PUSH too hard and try to go through TOO FAST. If your drill is NOT making good progress, it may be a BAD TIP (need sharpened... NOT for amateurs!) BUY A GOOD BIT for heavens sake, and USE a DRILL PRESS to keep it perpendicular if possible... and as someone else mentioned, place some OIL on the spot... any 3 in 1 oil... or EVEN a drip of motoroil will help.

Basic stuff, guys... (Granted, too bad you have to "fix" a small glitch on the pipes... but certainly NOT worth the trip back if you ask ME. I'm not THAT patient either... just very PRECISE when I do a job like that myself.)

Good luck!

(Just READING the posts on this issue is driving me NUTS!!!)
