the stock engine mount that is replaced is actually kinda like a gas cylinder....it has more free play (up and down motion) than jim's, which allows the entire transmission/engine to vibrate more. this vibration is basically a loss of power, and is rectified by having a stiffer mount w/ less free-play. also, the stiffer mount means less wear and tear on the transmission, since there's less damaging vibrations.
even if you can get off the line w/o wheel hop already, you're still probably losing some (albeit relatively small) amount of energy from the vibrating engine.
personally, what i noticed after the install is that the car idles a bit smoother, is a hair more responsive, and possibly has a bit more power at the wheels (though i doubt more than 1-3 hp, if that).
but then again, this could all be psychological, and jim could just be selling us hopes and dreams (j/k jim).
