I take my car in today for the third attempt just to get it in. They take it and give me a loaner after much bitching. That's not even the bad part. I tell them about the pulling to the left. The tech looks me in the eye and says that that's how they are made and that there's nothing I can do about it. I almost beat the crap out of him right then and there. I wanted to say "Look dumb ass, I've been in the damn shop 7 times total for the pulling issue, and this is the first time they've said it's just meant to be that. ARGHHHHHHHH!!!!! Then I tell him about the delayed acceleration, and he says that that's me just imagining it. I wanted to let him imagine my car running over him at that point. I said F it, gave him the keys and left. Get in the loaner, it's on E. Soon as I start it, the fuel light comes on. I go in, and the guy tells me that I need to fill it up, and return it filled. By now I'm about to detonate a small nuclear device under his ass and laugh as his small tiny bits of body rain down on me... I leave, fill the car up. Toyota will be hearing about this for sure. GOD WHY DO I HAVE TO DEAL WITH THE IDIOTS ALL THE TIME>

That's awful! Have you tried taking your car to another dealership. I have to say that I have not experienced any troubles with my Toyota service ppl. I got an oil change once and my car was a little dirty. I told their customer service person and they gave me a free oil change on my next visit and a free car rental for my next major service. They have been really great to work with. Every time I have any problems with warranty repairs, I ask them nicely and they've always taken care of every thing.

Either you need to take your car to another dealership or you need a hot looking chick to escort your Solara on your next service.

How did you get your service writers to answer the phone? I have not been able to even TALK to a service writer since I got my car in March 2004. I have given up on the dealer and am going to the local car shop that I have used for years. They do a much better job anyway, and cost a lot less.

Having worked at several car dealers, I can tell you that many of the front line employees are gypsies (itinerant sales, writers and cashiers) or total newbies.

I ordered a door lock cylinder for a 1999 VW Beetle from Russell VW in Ellicott City MD, and waited for 6 months to get it, even though others had ordered theirs after me and got them earlier (mine had to come from Mexico.) After many calls and the parts guy getting mad at ME each time, I told him that I was looking for a new car and I wouldn't get a VW after this experience. He said, "I would never get one either, VW is f***ed up. That's just the way they do things around here." This from the parts counter dude. Needless to say, I didn't get a VW (I wasn't going to get one anyway.)

I would have asked for the manager in your case, but they probably would have started yelling at you. The Russell Toyota dealer started yelling at me and told me to go f*** myself after they told me one price on a car, and then charged me another, and I signed the forms. I eventually got it sorted out, but these guys have no compunction about jumping in your face. I almost didn't get another Toyota after that experience.

I bought my car at CarMax Toyota (new car dealer) just for the easy sales (and I used to sell cars) but won't go to a dealer unless there is a recall. They are the biggest rip offs. They make no money on new car sales. All of it is from the shops.

I would not return the car with a full tank. And if they charge you for it, I would take them to small claims court, and also sue the service writer personally who told you to fill it twice (just for the cost of gas and lost wages.)

I think I would have filled it up with diesel just before I returned it and played dumb
When in doubt gas it out, brakes just slow you down.

We have idiots that fill their (always an IS 300 rofl, and 1 a month on avg... in fact, one yesterday) own damn cars with Diesel... They have to empty the tank and then (usually) change the plugs. It's bad for the car, but it sure does make our dealer some cash =P

I thought diesel pump nozzles were larger so that you don't make that mistake? I almost did one time and I was like "why the hell isn't this fitting? Oh" :o

Sometimes the price is worth it. Just take the car back and tell them you hope No 2 diesel was ok to put in it and watch the reaction.

We have both diesel and gas trucks at work and its not at all uncommon for someone to put the wrong fuel in their truck. They don't make it very far before it sputters to a stop. It is kind of funny to watch though, and yes I do get into trouble a lot at work.
