Does anyone know for sure who the manufacturer of the JBL radio is on 06 w/SAT capability? I think they are Panasonic, but don't know for sure.

Also, does anyone know what connections are available on back of radio...(pic would be gret).
Thanks

You are correct, it's Panasonic. Check out the pics below; Sorry I don't have a better shot of the rear connections but hopefully this will help (these are from when I sold the unit on eBay)... The smaller pic of the lable I posted on eBay was actually far more ledgable than the larger pic below, but the auction expired around a year ago so those pics are long gone.

from that picture, where should i connect the toyota harness for the ipod2car interface. i was under the impression that i have to disconnect the disc changer first. how is the radio connected to the disc changer? i'm a little bit lost here, so please anyone?

I think they meant an external CD changer since the in-dash changer is built-in, of course. In other cars where they have a changer in the glove box or trunk, an iPod has to emulate a CD changer in order for it to work with the average HU, and you even have to name the folder a certain way (like iPod1 to emulate "CD 1" for example).

Since iPod and other larger MP3 players (e.g. the Creative's Zen, etc.) are relatively new pieces of technology, so only recently has HU manufacturers began to catch up with 10GB iPod, when 256MB built-in used to be king only a couple of years ago.

i bought a Metra Toyota-compatible iPod© Adapter from circuit city and connected it to (from the picture, 2nd jack from left) the radio. First, it wouldn't work no matter how i try. I checked the ipod and saw that the switch is in locked position. i switched to unlock and got it working. i have to press cd twice to switch to cd1 for the ipod to work. put everything back, (storage compartment, console) and was ready to enjoy my ipod on stock radio. on my way to work i plugged my ipod, listened to it but after 5 minutes, the radio switched itself back to cd. i cant switch back to cd1 even if i press it 20 times. i removed everything and checked my connection. plugged the ipod and everything was working again. after 5 minutes or so, radio reverted back to cd. finally gave up and returned the adapter to circuit city..... i don't even want to try ipod2car anymore. i'm thinking of xm instead :P

That's real wierd. Maybe you just got a faulty Metra. You are supposed to plug it into the cd changer port. My IPOD2CAR doesn't exhibit your behavior. Is the Metra the same as IPOD2CAR?

i dont think so. i think ipod2car is made by peripheral electronics. with ipod2car, can you still switch from ipod to cd changer?

AUXPOD (IPOD2CAR?) is by Pacific (PAC). It does the same thing. You plug it into the external CD changer port and it simulates a CD changer (CD1). IPOD version may have control from the HU too. I have the AUX2CAR so it's just an input and tells the HU that it's playing the same track forever. Tutorial section has the install. I highly recommend it.
