PAC TRUNK LOC

Tonight I installed a sub and amp to the factory head unit using the PAC TRUNK LOC. This LOC has a trigger built into it so it will turn the amp on once it senses voltage over the speaker wire. My problem is that it seems that there is constant voltage over the speaker wires even when the factory head unit is turned off so the amp comes on when I turn the ignition on. I tested the factory speaker wires and there is 6volts when the head unit is on and when it is off. Also when the ignition is switched off I get a loud humming noise back through the amp and sub. I went through the wiring several times and even rewired it thinking there was a short somewhere. Anyone have any suggestions???

Return it and maybe get a exchange or refund.

OR

Rewire the damn thing and put a switch between its power source
so that way you can manually shut if off and turn it on.

Not really familiar with the PAC Line Out Converter (I assume that's what LOC stands for) but it sounds like a grounding issue to me... Make sure you're using a paint-free, dirt-free grounding site that is direct metal against metal contact... I'm not sure why your speakers would be receiving a steady 6v current whether the radio was off or on... but it may be something to do with the amplifier mounted behind your glovebox. That sounds pretty odd though.
