There are absolutely no lights, fiber optics, etc in the steering wheel. Its just glow in the dark paint. This I am sure of. I took to the garage here at work. This would explain why the illumination brightness control has no effect on the buttons.. Case closed.

Forgive me for disagreeing...they have some sort of low level illumination, and this I've confirmed. In dark garage turn headights on. Cup your hands over stereo controls and they will be lit up until lights go off and then they go off too...so they are not glow in the dark switches.

Check your facts dude... On my '04 they are back-lit... Confirm this by sitting in your car in the dark... they will not illuminate until you turn your lights on (whether the car is on or off)...

Another quick shoot-down of your "glow-in-the-dark" theory is to simpy look at them when the car is off at night... If they WERE glow-in-the-dark they would still illuminate when the car is off and the lights are off...

Yes, they do illuminate, but they can't be controlled by the dash light control (at least without a mod).
