Steering Wheel Audio Control Lights

Postby rx7_fan » Tue Jul 04, 2006 10:42 pm

Hey guys,

How do you make the steering wheel audio control lights brighter? It's so dim on my 2004, and I figure you guys can help. I tried making it brighter by making my instruments control lights brighter but it didn't work, I guess it's separate. Hope you guys can help.

I have a 06 Converible and yes they do light up, at least on my SLE. Light up is not a good phrase. More like they hardly glow up. On a very dark road, you can see them. I owned the car for a number of weeks before I noticed the controls lit up. I too would like to know how they could be made to glow brighter. I'm assuming they are picking up the light somewhere else via a fiber optic. That's just a guess of course.

Wow - guess I'll have to go out in the garage with all the lights off and see for myself then!

Yup, my '04 controls light up as well.. they adjust in accordance with the console cluster dimmer... They aren't extremely bright, but I can definitely see them.

yeah they glow dude, just turn on your headlights and make sure your surrondings are dark, you'll see a slight glow.

I'm looking at the buttons and there is no light. The symbols are painted white on the buttons, Where are these illumination lights? because my '06 SE don't have them as far as I can tell...

On the steering wheel, my Channel button, Volume button, Mode button and Display button illuminate. It's kinda hard to see from the shot below, but look carefully and you can see what we're talking about (sorry, these pics weren't taken with the intent to focus on just those buttons, I took these when I first got the car):

There are absolutely no lights, fiber optics, etc in the steering wheel. Its just glow in the dark paint. This I am sure of. I took to the garage here at work. This would explain why the illumination brightness control has no effect on the buttons.. Case closed.
