Sorry to resurrect this post but I'm getting conflicting answers on what the ohm resistance is for the stock JBL speakers for a Gen 2 Solara Coupe with the JBL setup (non-nav). Some people are reporting 4 ohms and others are reporting 2 ohms on the web and I see the same confusion in this forum. I'm still thinking about replacing my stock JBL speakers (only) in the future. Can anybody out there positively state the stock JBL speaker impedance for a Gen 2 Solara Coupe?

I found the answer in the "Manuals" post PXL put up and I'm taking it as the bible for specs of the stock JBL rear speaker's impedance ratings :

Separate Type Amplifier (JBL-Coupe):
1.75 to 2.75 Ω

Separate Type Amplifier (JBL-Convertible):
Approximately 2.4 Ω

Built-in Type Amplifier (Non-JBL):
5.1 to 6.9 Ω

So from this I'm theorizing the rear deck JBL speakers are 2 ohm.

But it's saying that the front speakers are different in impedance:

Separate Type Amplifier (JBL-Coupe):
3 to 4 Ω

Separate Type Amplifier (JBL-Convertible):
3.5 to 4.5 Ω

Built-in Type Amplifier (Non-JBL):
Approximately 4 Ω

So my front door speakers are 4 ohm.(?)

.....and then there are the dash tweeters which are back to 2 ohm:

Separate Type Amplifier (JBL-Coupe):
1.75 to 2.75 Ω

Separate Type Amplifier (JBL-Convertible):
Approximately 2.4 Ω

Built-in Type Amplifier (Non-JBL):
5.1 to 6.9 Ω

Surprisingly it doesn't. I just looked at the shots I posted in this thread and there's nothing on any of the speakers.

If its an amplified JBL system, then its Definitely not 4ohm.

I tried that hopping in the trunk bit, brother, and let me tell you that it was a MAAAAJOR effort to get my old fat ass and beer belly back out. Although the trunk is big enough to hold a large dead body or many flailing midgets, I definitely wouldn't advise crawling into the trunk for those of us who are fa....er..physically challenged.

Multimeter? How many do I have to buy? :P Thanks guys, but I thinks some of you are giving me waaaaay too much credit in believing I'm electrically-literate and not lazy. I have a Fluke multimeter I got from my electrician uncle about 3 years ago that has more options than Michael Phelps in a stripclub but I don't know how to use it. I tried looking at the manual but there was just too many words and stuff. Right now I'm just curious what the JBL can handle. I thought something was weird when I heard people on different Toyota forums running "added on" equipment from the front speakers rather than the rear from the stock JBL amp. Right now I just want to replace the rear deck speakers without screwing up my extended warranty, so far I'm thinking about the Infinity Kappa line.

i have come to find that everything on the solara and involving it, it is always a confusing, not straight forward uphill battle.

Sounds like a DIYer's dream. :) haha
