I just installed a new radio in my 2007 se. Its a pioneer FH-P8000BT. It wasn't too hard thanks to all the info I found on here. I took pics while i was doing it. They're posted as links, b/c i can never seem to get the pics to work in the message.

Pics of HU before install

This is the wire harness of the pac swi ps. for the solara, the white, red and black wires are used. the white wire need to be split into 2 wires, one w/ a 150ohm resistor on it, like this:

The next few pics are taking the vent above the radio off. I found it easier to take out the hazard botton first so i could get my fingers in the hole for some leverage. the vent wasn't easy to get off wand i really thought it was going to break. it pulls streight out towards the back of the car.

next, center console. pull the e-brake up, open the arm rest and the center console pulls streight up. the cubby under the radio pulls towards the back of the car. after its unclipped, move the gear shift back and rotate the cubby top forward. unplug the two wires(aux and cigerate lighter)

remove 4 10mm screws, 2 above radio and 2 below hvac. remove radio and hvac as one unit.

the three wire w/ clips on them are used for the steering wheel control adapter. of the 3 plugs that come out of the factory radio, this one doesn't go into the new radio. the yellow wire is for ground and the other two go to the white wire that was split in 2 on the swi ps harness. also, if you dont use a steering wheel adapter, ground the yellow wire anyway. if you don't, the dispaly botton on the steering wheel wont work to show mpg, range ect...
http://memimage.cardomain.com/member_images/11/web/2963000-2963999/2963193_36_full.jpg?351712-285

i had to cut some plastic off of the new bracket for the radio/hvac. otherwise, the hvac didn't fit properly. i forgot to take a pic of the radio/hvac put back together ouside of the car, but it will be obvious what needs to be cut when you try to put it together.

all done

i'll take some more pics at night to see if the lights on the hu look ok with the lights in the car.

it comes w/ pretty simple instructions. the white wire gets split and a resistor gets put on one of them. of the now 2 white wires, one goes to pin 7 on that harness in the pic and one to pin 8. the black wire from the pac harness goes to ground. also ground the yellow wire from the car harness in the pic. the red wire from the pac harness goes to a switched 12v+, usually a red wire on aftermarket radio harnesses. after thats hooked up, connect the pac wire harness to the pac swi. follow these instructions:
6. Programming the SWI-PS with a version number.

The SWI-PS has to be programmed for version # 8.

1. Press and hold the Program Button on the SWI-PS while turning on the vehicle to the accessory position. The LED will turn on.
2. Release the Program Button and the LED will turn off.
3. Press the Program Button 8 times. Each time you press and release the Program Button, the LED will turn on and off. Once you press the Program Button 8 times, wait for 3 seconds. The LED will flash 8 times indicating it is programmed for version 8. If it flashes the wrong version number, you will have to start all over at step 1 above in this section. Turn the key off.
4. Once you have programmed the correct version number, you will not have to do these steps again. If you need to reprogram the steering wheel control, you can go directly to the next section.

7. Programming the SWI-PS to learn steering wheel control functions.

1. Turn the key to the accessory position (you do not need to hold the Program Button at this time). The LED will flash 8 times. This indicates it is programmed for version 8.
2. Press the Program Button until the LED turns on, then release the button (This will erase all previous learned steering wheel control functions). The SWI-PS is now ready to learn a command from the steering wheel.

3. The SWI-PS must be programmed in the specific order shown in the chart below. If a function is not needed, it may be skipped. Pioneer, Sony, Advent, Dual, Jensen, Visteon
Programming order for
SWI-PS N/A
1 Volume Up
2 Volume Down
3 Mute
4 Track Up/ Seek Up
5 Track Down/ Seek Down
6 Source
7 Preset Up/ Disc Up
8 Preset Down/ Disc Down
9 Band

4. With the LED on, press your steering wheel button until the light goes out and hold for one second more.
5. Release and the LED should come back on. If it does not please double check all connections and verify for correct version programming.
6. Repeat step 4 and 5 to program additional steering wheel buttons in the order corresponding to the chart above for your SWI interface.
7. If you come across a command in the chart that your steering wheel does not have, or you do not want to program, press the Program Button on the side of the SWI interface.
8. The LED will flash once rapidly and then stay on confirming that you have successfully skipped that command and are ready for the next button.
9. When you are done programming all the buttons, wait for about 7 seconds. The LED will flash 3 times indicating it is done programming. The LED will then flash 8 times indicating the version number.

8. Testing the SWI-PS .

1. Connect the plug to back of radio's steering wheel input jack or harness.
2. With the vehicle on, press a steering wheel button to control the stereo. The SWI-PS should control the aftermarket stereo with the function you taught it. Test all other buttons.
3. If the interface does not control the radio as the steering wheel indicates, the buttons were either pressed in the wrong order or a step was not skipped properly. Return to category 7 and reprogram.
4. Make sure all unused wires are isolated separately.
5. After all commands are verified to work properly, secure the SWI interface so that tension will not pull either of the connectors loose or apart.
6. That's it! Enjoy!

That looks nice! Where did you get the silver cover surrounding the HU? It matches and fits nice.

That is a sweet set-up! I like the one knob design...actually looks like it fits in with the A/C controls.

HEY I got the same head unit for my gen 1. I installed it a few months ago, I love how much control you have with it, and options. How are you liking it, sound output is amazing IMO.. I had some problems when setting up bluetooth but otherwise its been worth every dollar.

i didn't have the jbl setup, so no amp to bypass.

it does have a lot of great features. i have it set to only send low frequencies to the rear speakers wich gives a good front stage. it sounds great. i havnt tried the bluetooth yet. i have an older phone.
