Anybody have a Non-JBL receiver just lying around, possibly looking to sell. I'd like to upgrade to one with the CD changer option. Let me know. Thanks

i dont think the CD changer option was available without jbl
it was either non-jbl with single CD
or jbl with 6 disk and tape deck

Well the reason I ask is because I'd like to set up a USA-SPEC Ipod interface system. Also would like to keep the factory look and controls if possible. Using an FM transmitter and changing songs while driving on the ipod kinda sucks.

Is it possible to convert to a JBL system? If its a big job, might be easier to just bite the bullet and go aftermarket.

The USA-Spec Ipod interface uses the Cd changer function to control, charge, and play music from your Ipod.

The basic, factory Am/fm CD player has no Aux or Changer function.

actually it does
i installed a usa spec on my car before i got my navi (although it wasn't ipod specific)
i had a non-jbl basic system as well
if you want to chance to the CD changer from ur stereo, after you install your usa spec unit just press the CD button to switch between the single disk and cd changer modes

Really?

So there's a port for that on the back of the stereo?

Seriously... I HIGHLY recommend going aftermarket!

Other than that... g/l!

NOTE: I had and sold the USA-SPEC unit, and although it works, it was a little "tempermental" and less than "full-featured", it did work with the stock JBL and iPod. I'm running the Alpine H/U now, and won't go back! (Even bought a SECOND Alpine for the P/U to replace the Pioneer...)

I had an Alpine MP3-CD player in a car I sold about 3 years ago. It was awesome, I'll admit. I should have kept that stereo.

You're the second guy to mention Alpine. What model are you guys installing. I thought Eclipse was a big favorite on these boards.

I prefer Pioneer. My H/U has an iPod interface that I run to let the iPod sit inside my glovebox.

I got an Alpine headunit in my ride and i'll never go back to stock. You get more out of a aftermarket headunit then stock!

^^^ My model Alpine (and every other possible detail you DIDN'T ask to know) is in that thread. lol!

I suspect there are MANY good H/U's out there... but I like the current/recent Alpine's at the moment.

g/l!

Definitely go aftermarket; that added about 2 more years to the life of my Taurus (jeje). Keep the stock unit in case you sell the car.
