No highs, only Sub working ( Help? )

I may have missed the post I need, but after a laundry list of search results, here's my situation:

Previously installed/working:
Headunit - Pioneer AVH-P4200DVD
Front - Alpine SPR-69C 6x9's
Rear - Polk Audio DB651 6 1/2's - Highs still using stock JBL amp btw.

Amp & Sub:
Amp - Kenwood KAC-7205 2 Channel 1000 Watt Class Ab Amplifier (500W x 1 @ 4 Ohm Bridged) - wanted the 7204 :-?
Sub - 15" DUB500

I had just finished installing the Polks in the rear earlier this evening, and everything was working. Went about making connections for the amp/sub
- Tapped into cigarette lighter for remote turn on.
- Plugged amp RCA's into "SWR & SWL" in back of headunit, that's gotta mean "subwoofer" right?

Finished the rest of the connections and started car, and while the amp/sub seem to be working great Nothing else is transmitting any sort of sound!! I made sure to not tamper with any of the connections to the highs, and rechecked that their RCA's had not been dislodged..but still nothing.
Would that stock JBL amp be interfering with this? -it does have the module to allow it to work with an aftermarket deck

It's been a few years since I've messed with the amp/sub scene, but wanted to put that DUB back to use (after probably 4 years of no use!)

I'm sorta at a lose, so if anyone else has any thoughts it'd be greatly appreciated!!

i'd be pointing @ the rear spkr install. sounds like (no pun intended) one of the rear spkr wires or spkr terminals is gorunded. when this happens the audio circiut in the headunit shuts down to protect itself. you may hear a short pop or crack when you first try to turn the system on. i'd disconect the rear spkrs and make sure the wires to them are not pinched or grounded anywhere. then see if you have audio from the front spkrs. let us know what you find.

Hey thanks for the thoughts man!
Guess it would make sense to re-check those rear speakers, regardless of working prior to the amp/sub install.. ya never know!
No giveaway pops or cracks occur during initial power up.

Kinda baffles me as I've never had such an awkward thing happen..

well... back to the Below freezing temps!!
and to think it's officially spring/summer

No luck on the rear speaker install check..
- plenty of slack in wires
- connected directly into nearest factory wires
- completely detached rear speakers, still no front stage sound.

Really kinda lost here fellas... everything worked fine until I hooked up the amp, and now nothing But the amp works!

ANY other ideas??

If you're still running your stock JBL amplifier, my suspicion is that the factrory amp isn't powered up. You should be using the "BLUE/WHITE" wire from the radio to power up the stock amp, as well as the subwoofer amp you installed. Double check all your connections at the back of the radio...even if they're all taped up. Just because there's tape on them, doesn't mean they're solid connections.

All front & rear speakers began working after disconnecting the amps RCA's.

Out of curiosity I removed the rear speaker RCA's and reconnected the amp... only the front speakers worked, nothing from the sub.
Reconnected rear speakers and Everything is now working!!

Still not sure why the "sequence" of doing that worked, just glad it did! :D

Thanks for all the suggestions guys!!

Magic works for me! haha, its as if the rear speaker RCA's needed to be 'reset' almost... weird.

On to the next project!
