Here are the instructions to programming your keyless entry remote by yourself for free. NOTE: You can only have up to 4 keyless entry remotes programmed with your car at once.

1. Driver's door open, key removed from ignition switch.
2. Within 5 seconds:
...A) Insert and remove the key from ignition switch twice.
3. Within 40 seconds:
...A) Close and open driver's door twice.
...B) Insert and remove the key from the ignition switch.
...C) Close and open driver's door twice.
...D) Insert the key into ignition switch and close the driver's door.
4. Within 40 seconds:
...A) Switch ignition ON and OFF once to program a new remote.
...B) Remove key from ignition switch:
.........1) Car should lock and unlock once.
5. Within 40 seconds:
...A) Press and hold LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on remote for 2 seconds.
6. Within 3 seconds:
...A) Press LOCK on the remote.
...B) Car should lock and unlock once. Twice means you messed up.
7. Within 40 seconds:
...A) Repeat button procedure to program remaining new transmitters.

This sounds great.

Can you program 1 fob to control 2 toyota's? (is that a good idea?)

(I have a Highlander and a Solara, and it might be nice to carry 1 fob that can control either car)

Ya but my method only works for this car, I have the method for the 04 tundra and the 02+ sequoia too. I have a remote that I programmed for all 4 of our toyotas (solara, 2 sequoias, and tundra 8) ) just to lock them all up at night so I don't have to go outside. All you have to do is get the right programming method and make sure your remote will work on the cars you want it to work on and just program it to each car.
