Group Buy: JP Headers for 2az-fe.

Postby tacti » Fri Jun 02, 2006 8:57 pm

I have been looking into headers for our 2az.
as it has been mentioned before, the TC's Header does not fit without modification. the size of cars are different, thus we need to extend the pipe.

after searching around online for quite a long time, the only headers i could find was by JP Performance.

It was introduced in Camry Forum in TN.

http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/t92061.html

jp performance headers for 2az-fe 2002-2005 Camry/Solara i4
Hey

Just wanted to let the Camry and Solara owners know that the JP header are done.

this will fit 2002-2005 i4 Camry and 2002-2005 i4 solara

dyno result is

133 hp 141 tq baseline w/ injen intake 15.0 a/f ratio
144 hp 154 tq headers w/ psc1-003 12.5 a/f ratio

Here their contact number: JP Performance

Address
2654 South Grand Ave.
Santa Ana, CA 92705

Phone Number
(714)754-6977 ask for Jose or Eric tell them Richard w/ the solara sent ya

Price is 350 for headers, add 50 for the o2 simulator.

$400 + tax and shipping

I contacted JP Performance and the guy told me that they still make those headers even tho it is not on their homepage.

I asked for the pricing, as well as possibility of group buy.
here is his reply.

Dear Tacti
I just got home and got this message!!! YES the header will bolt up to any
2az-fe motor, but IT DOES ELIMINATE THE CAT CONVERTOR!!! That's why U need
the 02 simulator to trick the car into thinking the cat is still there! To
my knowledge the simulator does not make the car faster. The only problem
might be that U might have to go to a muffler shop to do the bottom hook-up
it the bottom flange doesn't line up. To our knowledge they have fit all the
cars we sold them to without any problems. The flanges are heavy duty and
the header is coated with a 2 stage ceramic coating good to 1500 degrees F
I hope I have answered UR questions??? We have only sold the SPLIT SECOND 02
sim and it is $50.00. But as I said there are cheaper ones at www.o2sim.com
For $25.00,but we have never tried them and the one from split second does
work on UR car.

Sincerely,
Michael

Dear Tacti June, 2nd, 2006-06-02

Yes the current price is $400 without the simulator or $450 with the
simulator, If U wanted a group buy U need to order a minimum of 15 headers
at $400 each which includes the simulator(sorry but due to the increase in
our cost on ceramic coating ,metals and flanges ect...we had to raise the
cost)Also $80.00 shipping anywhere in U.S.A. so that = $7,200.00 if all
customers outside of California(customers in California would have to pay
$31.00 TAX) So that is $750.00 off !!! If U ordered 30 headers it would be
$375.00 each or $11,250.00 that would be $2,250.00 off !!! The work we put
into this header is the same as other headers we sell for $899.00 to
$1,199.00 just check our web site. I hope I have answered all UR ???
If U did a group buy we would need 50% up front and the final 50% at
shipping. REMMBER THE SHIPPING AND HANDLING IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE PRICE and
is $80 per HEADER , ALSO CALIFORNIA CUSTOMERS PAY TAX AT $31.00 EACH!!!
So single order = $450+$80 outside of CA (in CA add $31 TAX)
GROUP BUY order = $400+$80 outside of CA 15 headers(in CA add $31 TAX)
GROUP BUY order + $375+$80 outside of CA 30 headers(in CA add $31 TAX)

Michael
MANAGER JP PERFORMANCE EXHAUST

so.. does anyone interested in?

the PSC-1 mentioned in TN is sold by SPLIT SECOND and it is $200.
I have not contacted them for any group buy, but if there are enough interest I will contact them for the possibility...

seems like this is the only performance header for our car.
and also, as JP Performance has mentioned, this will work with any 2AZ including camry. (Both 2.4L and 2.2L)

I don't know about 30 people, but let's try from 15.

if you have any question, please PM me.
also i will ask about how long it will take to be shipped after ordering the item.
let's make it happen!!

seriously i have tried to start a groupbuy with solaraguy and toyotanation. it never had enough people to join in or were serious enough to want to buy it. people think our cars are like civics or something where parts are mass produce and actually have a market for them. and then you the people where they bitch about how $450 is too much. but look at the demand and etc... it not like HONDA. So I think it better off you buy it from JP and have less headache instead of trying to find 15 people interested in the groupbuy and save 50 bucks. but good luck tho if it works out.

^^ Well said! ^^
Just go ahead a blaze the way. Swapping should be pretty easy. If possible, I recommend you do it or have it done close to a place with a dyno. Get some numbers before and then after on the same day.

Now if there were V-6 headers available for $600, I'd be all over that.

Like the TC headers they still have to be modified. When they say that it will fit any 2AZ engine they mean on the top.
