I can tell you at least on my car with this particular model I needed the relays. I believe it has something to do with the electronics within the Solara on the lighting circuit. My HID's would not ignite on the stock wire harness. Plus from what I've read the initial current to ignite the HID's is more than our wire harness can handle, which will lead to eventual failure. I am definitely selling this hid kit now. My eyes are way too tired driving around with the blueness of it.

They kit is currently installed in my car, I won't get a chance to remove them until school finals are over, in 2 weeks. Price is $100 shipped.
