I ordered my kits through this guy. If you have any questions just message him though ebay and he replies quickly. This is the cheapest price I have found anywhere (including ebay) for new McCulloch kits.

Not sure what you are asking. HIDs are plug and play, but there is a seperate unit (ballast) that converts the 55W for halogens (that are originally on solaras) to 35W for HIDs and an ignitor unit. Not sure how much he sells just the bulbs for, but if you dont already have ballasts and ignitors you need those for HIDs.

H11 are the size of our low beam bulbs, as far as I know thats all we can use.

If you want pure white (no blue) go with the 5300K.

Here is a diagram, its in Japanese, but you get the idea:

toyo chick:

I have never heard of x-type HIDs. Are they true HIDs (come with ballast and ignitors?) or are they just halogens painted blue and labeled "HIDs"?

If you want a slight blue color, get the 6000k. That what I got. Right now they look pretty much pure white, but after 50-100 hours of use, HID bulbs color shift about ~250K. I wouldn't recommend anything over 6000K, there just isnt enough "useable" light for night driving and you might attract the attention of the cops...

PS-I posted this in another section, but here is an awesome faq about HIDs, basically everything you ever wanted to know and more.

Oh yeah, here is one more thing i found useful:

http://www.sylvania.com/ConsumerProducts/AutomotiveLighting/LampReplacementGuide

Put in your car make/model/year and it will tell you what size bulbs you need. IF you are buying HIDs, just look for "low beams", its H11 for Gen2 Solaras

Does it come with the newest generation ballast, whereas the old ones had issues?

Between the 5300K and 6000K, which is best to achieve the brightest light and still get a good looking blue color, yet not too much blue?

for those wanting to go blueish/ white, go with 8000k maybe even an 8500k bulb.

I have my headlights which are H4 in 8500k, and my fogs (9006) at 8000k....

I think i posted on this before.... Ill put piks up once I find my link...lol
