2002 Camry under dash chirping

I just bought a 2002 V6 Camry. Occasionally with engine and a/c running i will hear a short whistle or chirp from under the dash. Any idea what this might be?

Do you have an aftermarket alarm installed on the car?

if that sound comes on ONLY when you turn the AC on, its normal since its the clutch working on the pulley for the compressor to start charging the R134a (AC fluid) up.

This chirp does not occur at start up, is not a belt slipping sound, etc. It occurs occasionally, erratically, unpredictably, and sounds for all the world like a brief bird chirp.

'Spose I should turn off a/c and see if it still occurs. Been hot enuf here this summer that I have always run a/c

ok, then i am certain that it is the A/C compressor you are hearing clicking on and off.

nothing to be worried about. its normal procedure for the a/c compressor.

Might it be the blower motor? I had a similar problem on a '96 Camry Wagon V6. It was intermittent, sounded like a bird under the dash. Had to have the blower motor replaced, and that fixed it.
