Whiteline Sway Bars

Postby MentatGom » Tue Jan 18, 2005 10:27 am

Hi,

I am ready to spend some money and buy some Whiteline sway bars for my 1999 Camry. Who is a good source? I have got $300 shipped from 185performance.com.

Thanks,

gom

you're better off for searching a TRD RSB.

no need for a thicker front sway bar in a FF car.

CTM is the best source for the Whiteline stuff.
Let's just pretend I didn't grow up, or you're going to be terribly disappointed.

we are front wheel drive. if you make things stiffer in the front, it will understeer more.

Hey TadS,

Did you install the front sway bar yourself?
The rear sway bar is no prob, but the front I am not too sure about.

Thanks.

I myself am an advocate for upgrading the sway bars as a set... they make a set for a reason, because they are matched to deliver optimal handling. I have tested this setup in more cars than one, some of which with more power than my V6 Camry, and all front wheel drive... with the front sway bar (assuming with matching rear) your wheels are able to "stand up" and resist camber changing body roll and lean to maximise your stability, so much better control in turns... going on these spiral freeway interchanges in southern california and similar roads going at a high rate of speed, the tires don't squeel and the car feels nice and solid... the steering is way less squirrly when doing quick steering changes... anyway, just my 2 cents... guess the best thing is to try and get a test drive in with somebody.

Yes, It took about 4 hours and was not fun at all, but IMHO it was worth the work.

You will only understeer if you have no RSB and a 2" think (hypotetical) front sway bar, or your just not a good driver.

If you know how to drive your car correctly and know the proper way to apex, than having equally thick front and rear sway bars will benifit you greatly. It's all about strengthening the chassis. And upgrading the front does that. With smooth drivingt technique, you shouldn't have any problem with understeer. I know I haven't ever.
