synthetic oil

Is it safe to put synthetic oil in a v6 camry auto? I have heard many stories where u want to mix synthetic first with conventional then switch to synthetic and after that you can't switch to conventional again. What is the real deal and if any of u use synthetic do u use mobil?

Depends on how many miles you have. I don't reccomend if you have over 75k miles, but other than that go for it. I run synthetic and I love it and btw there is no switching procedure, just add it in

I run synthetic on my 1992 camry v6. I think thats probably why i have 190000 miles on it.

5w30 is correct.

You can use a syn oil right from day 1. A lot of high line autos and bikes come with syn oil right from the factory.

however, the fact remains that toyota does not recommend synthetic oil. doesn't mean i don't use it, but toyota doesn't recommend it.

BTW, please refrain from digging up posts over a year old in order to make a useless comment on them.

They don't specifically tell you not to use it either. They just say use an oil that meets or exceeds there recommendations.
