My wife has a leak on her 98 camry's flex pipe and I am going to weld a new one in. Anyone know the proper diameter I am thinking 2 inch but not sure. I searched and came up with the V6 specs only.

2" sounds right. It's close enough anyway.
Let's just pretend I didn't grow up, or you're going to be terribly disappointed.

or you can use some seafoam and then you'll see where the leak is when in doubt ;)

OK I got the old measuring tools out. In front I got 1.950 inch and .2043 in the back. Then I measured the entire section so I got a 6 inch flex with a 10 inch overall and 2"ID piping. I will post pics when I get it installed.

Thank you. BTW, the same seller has slightly lower prices (shipping) on his site www.performance-curve.com

With your setup, were you able to fit the pipes inside of the new flex piece? I am thinking of fitting the pipes inside of the flex using clamps instead of welding.

Thanks

One side can be clamped I think but the other I am not sure I need to find a time I can crawl under her car and do this thing. :-?

OK it is done. First all only the side near the engine can be clamped the other side is not so lucky. You have just enough material to slip a bit of the pipe over and weld it on. Now before the picture here is some info. I used a 2 inch ID flex pipe with 6 inches of flex and 10 inch overall length.

1. I was welding on my back upside down.
2. It was a flux welded NO gas.
3. I have no training.
4. I shattered my wrist a month ago in a motorcycle accident
So get off my back about weld quality.

Thanks for the pics and info. Your welding is not too bad. If I try to arc weld mine, I am sure I will burn holes in the metal. With my brother's help, I will take a shot at gas welding.

According to UPS, my order will be here tomorrow.

Thanks again.
