new wheels to me!

picked up a set of rota wheels from a friend of mines (castro's old track wheels), 17" sub-zeros , curbed and track scar'd.. so i tried my luck at wheel repair and painting- here goes nothing!! ::Puts FLaME suiT oN::

curbed/rashed/chipped wheels- all of them had a little something something on them ..
Image

sanded the rashes with 120 grit sand paper and sprayed it with etching primer.. (greenish/gray colored primer..)
Image

then i used filler primer (high build) to fill in some of the deeper damages..
(light gray primer on top of etching primer-)
Image

after that, i shaped it with an exacto knife and 400 grit sand paper- the 400 grit helps with not over sanding and having to re-do the high build primer..
Image

fully etched primered-
Image

3 coats of engine gold- ( bronze with no light, but all out gold when with sunlight)
Image

4th coat of gold and 3 coats of clearcoat..so its done!
Image

-- i then threw on a brand spanking new set of kumho ecsta ast in 225/45-17 .. and some 10mm spacers in the back- when i have time, i'll get my extended bolts installed in the front and put 10mm in the front and 20mm in the back.. i'll still be rockin the g35 wheels when it comes around to meets and what not. to be honest, i feel that 18" are crazy overkill for me!-

sooo.. here's my car for now!

Nice filler job man, they look really clean. What paint you use on the wheels? I typically use duplicolor but wondering what you use.

The wheels while on the car look like they are sports bronze from rota's. overall they look good man. Trust me no flame here.

oh sweet! - Cathy (onetolove) bought me the tires!! - she buys me everything! LOL- thanks babe!

toy1mzfe: yeah- i used the duplicolor gold engine paint as well! - i wanted to try rustoleum but since i've had good experiences with duplicolor- i stuck with what i knew.
