Dog Food in the Air Intake Box!!!

Dog Food in the Air Intake Box!!!

Postby youngblood » Fri Feb 26, 2010 9:01 pm

Just picked up a '98 LE V6 Camry for my older sister. It's as loaded as an LE can get with a moonroof, trac control, and side airbags. Decent car.
Well, I figured I better do a few safety/ maintenance checks before turning it over to sis and what do I find? The inlet (bottom) side of the air filter box was full of kibbles and bits! When I say full, I mean FULL. There was no apparent impact on performance as the arrangement was porous enough for sufficient air flow.

Why the heck would there be dog food in there? I am 99.9% sure I know the answer as I heard of a similar situation before.

Anyone hazard to guess?

The intake box makes a great impromptu dog food bowl for away trips! Foreal, that's hilarious.

Haha wow. Mice? That's funny. I guess some rodents found dog food somewhere and were storing it? I can see how the intake would make a convenient tunnel for em.

Its not uncommon. I found dog food stuffed in the intake manifold gap of my Chevy along with droppings and pee. Just clean it and youll be fine.

Ok, more bizzar. Took my dad's air filter out years ago and the bottom of the air intake was like 1lb of mouse poison pellets. the flippin critters were carrying the and not eating it. It eventually killed it though.

Yup- varmints! As long as they're busy storing away dog food they'll be too busy to chew on the wires and make nests, I guess.

Anyone have any issues with actual damage from rodents?
