^^ it was quite a job! would not have been able alone! but not too hard either... if you are mechanicly inclined... car is jerking a little in 1'st and high throttle but i'm getting my timing pulled by the stupid knock sensors... saw it on the scanmaster graphs... i really need to relocate these stupid sensors

and yeah deff feels smooth as new! all gears works perfect and goes in like a hot knife in butter a real pleasure to drive!!! feels way more sporty and GOD it sounds nice with the CAI!!! :)

well guys here are the pics of the swap!!!

i'll add some comments before the pics

enjoy!

swap goodies on th back seat!

junk in the trunk

Image

heavy junk in the trunk

Image

disconnecting the cables starter and hoses

Image

car on the lift ready for axle removal (you need a 30mm deep socket to remove the nut on the axles)

Image

unbolted ball joints

Image

those snap on swivel impact sockets are really awesome!!!

Image

passenger axle out of the hub (i driven the car for like 5 months with the ripped boot)

Image

these are the 2 bolts you need to remove that holds the power steering line on top of the subframe passenger side

Image

Image

my power steering pump with blown bearing seal... we did not replace it due to the lack of time and the fact that both of us couldnt figure how to remove the %?$? top pivot bolt... ???

Image

i had to cut the y pipe because it was welded into the cat... -_-...

Image

crappy y pipe is crappy

Image

500$ snap on impact wrench is awesome!!!!

Image

had to go back home to pick up my small air compressor since the big compressor at the shop failed the day before we began the swap...

Image

random tool pic...

Image

stripped interior with auto shifter out!!!

Image

well....yeah the grommet is a bitch

Image

Image

auto brake pedal removed

Image

this 90* air drill and step drill worked good as hell to dril the holes for the master cylinder... only took 30 sec...

Image

the step drill wasnt big enough (7/8) for the center hole of the master... so i used a 90* die grinder and a carbide rotary file to enlarge to hole to the perfect diameter... metal is real thin and the rotary file was really cutting fast!!!

Image

me installing the clutch pedal and thingnies under the dash...

the wiring...

Image

Image

Image

WOOOOOT!!!

Image

Image

annnnnnnd there goes the subframe!!!! (engine is supported by a custom bar i made see later for pics)

Image

those tranny jacks are awesome and helped us a good time to remove/install the tranny and subframe...
wooot 1mz hanging

Image

autotragic out!!!

Image

Image

fidanza flywheel and ACT street modified clutch installed... i though the 14 fl/lb was a little bit wimpy so i torqued the pressure plate to 25 lb/ft... btw i installed the clutch disc the right way, chris ;)

Image

my awesome GF came to cheer me up just before we installed the 5 speed

Image

5 speed in place and bolted up!!! took about 10 mins of wiggling to finally make the tranny catch on the dowel pins...

Image

this is the guy that helped me do all this work!!! thanks buddy!!!

Image

press thingny we used to press the custom rear polyurethane mount in... worked ok...lol

Image

5 speed mount in place... mine bolted up to the block perfectly...

Image

then we reinstalled the subframe and bolted everything back together... sorry no pics but i was @%$?%$?# tired and just wanted to be done with it lol. in this pic you can see the bar i made to hold the engine

Image

woot!

Image

wiring in the 15 ohm resisor pack that somehow doesnt keep the ecu from throwing the solenoids code... -_-. also wired the black and black with white stripe wire together so i could start the car

Image

engine bay back together!

Image

mess around the car...

Image

Image

well that was my 5 speed swap! took about 17 hours to complete! i learned sooooo much doing this!

things id like to say!

removing the passenger axle and carrier was wayyy easier than expected... obviously the bearing was seized in the carrier... so i just waited till we had the subframe off and unbolted the carrier from the block. all bolts were really easy to take off. we used those swivel impact sockets for 3 bolts and the bolt that is just behind the axle was easily taken off with a regular wrench... then we used the cv joints as a slide hammer and the axle popped out of the differential

i will add more notes to this post later... i just wanted to post pics ASAP ;)
