Maybe you wont need the manual swap. Automatic will keep the boost up, wont it? 204hp is not bad for an automatic 4-cyl...

Holy Crap! This is way awesome Tact!

How's it feel to be the first turbo'd Gen2 4cyl? You've got to be loving that instant power.

Are you still fine tuning or is this project completed? What did you do about the fuel mapping on the ECU?

Like Brian said...did you change something regarding fuel system ?? Injectors or pump or whatever ?? How many PSI the wastegate is set to open ??

About your stock dyno...I was surprised the 162hp rated engine made 142 whp, not a big loss (12% instead of 18% for 3MZ Gen 2), really a good thing for you !! :D

right now, I'm using the unichip it's programmed for tc.
it's plug'n play, and seems working without any issue.
except for the exhaust, (removing cat, etc) turbo install is done for now.

(i won't promise that i won't upgrade later though.....)

I have my dyno sheet from the last run, that will be uploaded soon...

>i20solara02i
what management are you going to use now?
I was thinking about using AEM if this unichip did not work.
however, for now, it's working, so i'll stay with this for while.

I used Turbonetics Scion tc kit. (got for quite a good deal)
the installation was fairly simple except the charge pipe from the intercooler to the intake manifold requires some fabrication, and needed quite a bit of change for the intake since i wanted to be cold air intake. (behind the fog)
instead of modifying the down pipe, we needed to work on the fringe on engine pipe side. (this will eventually be replaced with better pipe)

the kit came with

T3/T04 E50 ball bearing turbo

Unichip (pnp, that modify the signal after the ecu, unlike many other piggy back that modify the signal before ecu),

630cc Fuel injector, and all the necessary hardware.

I'm planning to upgrade the spark plug to IK22.
(does anyone would like to help me on this???)

it is running 8PSI. (well that what the spec says...)
and eventually want to put wideband a/f, boost, oil temp gauge.

Thanks for all the props.

I will pick up the car tonight, and hopefully i can clean up some electrics this weekend.

12% looks like that because he dynoed the car after installing headers, exhaust (partial) and cold air intake, right?

BTW, tacti... its nice to see you kept the cold air intake setup

Damn Tacti, you beat me to it, i have been on emailing spooled motor sports about a turbo setup for my car, they were set on making either a stage 1 or stage 3 kit for me but both would be using the TO4e turbo.

but none the less, great job man, i think i will be going with the stage 1 which will run me about 2600 as oppossed to the stage 3 which will run me about 3200.

But with the IC don't it is useless or you will still have the same temp difference that you have when you were N/A ??

Let me say that I am very psyched about your project and wish you success with this and later stages. It is very admirable what you have achieved. Once again, we've looked at the early stages of your project car and are glad how things are turning out.

Congrats!

i drove my car back from the shop last night.
it was a great feeling, when boost kicks in.
acceleration is amazing.

only problem i'm having so far, is when i drive in city.
when i do stop and go (probably when engine goes into closed loop), rpm goes down and engine stalls sometimes.

I think it maybe due to the engine re-learn.
i ordered colder spark plugs (IK22) as well.

I'll keep it updated after driving it for a while.
