Postby tacti » Mon May 26, 2008 4:12 pm

tomorrow, i'm going back to the shop and finish my exhaust work.
I will probably go to the tuner on thursday or friday, and hopefully it'll fix it.

I got Magnaflow Metallic core high flow cat, and putting 2.5 piping from the downpipe alway back.

Final (?) Update! 5/29/08
Quite a bit updates since last update.

1. Moroso Breather Tank Installed
Please visit this thread for more info

2. Exhaust Upgrade
I had 2.5" Catback, and was going to change the midpipe and Catalytic Converter to High Flow Cat, but just because the shop did not have the 2.5" in stock, I went with 3" downpipe back.
For now, I have Magnaflow High Flow Cat and Straight Thru Muffler.
because of drone, I probably will add some resonator soon.

3. Unichip Tuner
Finally i took may car to the unichip tuner.
they found the stalling issue was a little bit of tuning issue but more of the BOV spring.
the BOV spring is too hard for the Solara's vacuum to open it up.
set the BOV to the softest, and still barely opens.
shop is looking for a softer spring to replace it.

they also tuned the unichip to get a better a/f ratio.
now it's right around 11.5~11.7 at most rpm under boost.

I know I know... you are waiting for the final number....
at the tuner's dyno, i got 228 HP at the wheels.
Since it is at the different shop's dyno, I the number is not very accurate to compare with the previous number.

I will bring my car to the original shop when i do the resonator, and will do the dyno again.

I made a small change on my BOV Setup in order to fix my stalling problem.
(Thanks for Turbonetics for the tip!)
I T-tap the boost reference line from the charge pipe to waste gate, and connect the new line to the BOV.
This made the BOV to release the pressure quicker.
The Pusssshaaa sound from the bov got much smaller, but it did make my RPM more smooth.
will drive with this setup for a while and see how much difference it makes. I still may need small adjustment on the BOV, but for now, I'll drive around with this.

Instead of PM, I will post my current setup.
It was not just a simple plug and play install, but finally i got to the setup it's pretty stable, and satisfactory.
Hope this will provide some hints for some of you guys if anyone decide to follow my pass :drinking:

How is Colletti treating you? I have known them forever, and I sold my old prelude to Steve, the owner.

What were you doing autocrossing? Sounds like you weren't ready if you are having tuning issues!!!!

did you have fun?

Re: <05-29-08> result is in Sand Mica Limited TURBO!

Postby DriDed » Sat Feb 19, 2011 9:56 pm

I checked out one of tacti3's ytube videos and it stated that his turbonetics Solara @ 8PSI has 225 fwhp....

This Scion TC made 277 whp 270 tq with the same turbonetics kit at only 9 psi, but the car is a manual.

There is a manual Scion TC on youtube that made 290hp with the Dezod S1 kit @ 9psi:

I am gonna go with the Dezod S1 kit.

When my car is all setup with the dezod s1 turbo and necessary mods and exhaust, it should be about 250hp at 9psi since it is auto.

haha I can't wait the day that my Solara is boosted.
