Before (This was a few weeks ago at NLDS game 2 in Milwaukee — only shot I got of the "before"):

After:

I sanded off the flaky chrome with a sopping wet 800grit sand paper sponge. I then polished the foggy yellow headlights off with the same sponge, and later a 2500 grit wet sandpaper, and lastly used turtle brand polish rub.

For the headlights, I'm going to use a power drill, 3000 grit wet, and meguires glaze in spring, but this was my quick fix before the winter. Hope I can pass this tip on.

Just a tip, the geniuses that designed this grill, painted the vertical grates black. It's actually chrome-like metal under there. If you sand off the painted silver that we all know flakes, be careful not to sand the black by accident, as silver will expose through. It's all kinds of backwards... What gives, toyota???

I actually did what you did back in the day. White 95 Civic coupe, smoked corners, black housed projectors. I smoked and clear coated the corners and cooked off the headlight lenses to paint the projector housings Image

It's all in the details... I actually masked off a litte bit of the chrome when I de-lensed the housing in my prep. I wanted a little chrome to outline the lights.

Just was wondering how to fix this today, my grill was destroyed after one winter in NJ.

holy thread revival!
easiest way is to plasti-dip the grill!

google or youtube it.
this stuff is amazing.
1) wash your grill and kinda surround area with car soap and dry.
2) either remove your grill from your car or cover the inside and wherever that surrounds the grill with newspaper and masking tape
3) spray 2 or 3 coats with this stuff with, I would assume 10-15 minutes between each coat.
4) enjoy

if you don't like it, PEEL it!
if you accidentally sprayed it elsewhere, PEEL IT!
