transmission fluids

Postby Marty H. » Wed Mar 28, 2012 4:32 pm

Just bought a 2004 SE solara, 4 cyl. Very happy with it. Decided to "drain & refill" the transmission. Drained 4 1/3/quarts, Owners manual says 3.5 qts should drain. It shifted very smoothly and properly prior. Only shows at the bottom of the "add" mark on the dipstick. Any suggestions?

So after adding 3 1/2 quarts your now showing low or was that before you drained it? I usually just go off of what the dipstick says. All data is often wrong but not by much. You also have to take in account for prior owners overfilling or maybe a little bit from the torque converter drained?
How did the fluid look that you pulled out?
